“Valuing Diversity to Cultivate & Sustain Student Success”
Call for Proposals
Forty-eight years, ago K. Leroy Irvis, the first African American Speaker of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, founded the Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education (PBCOHE). The purpose of PBCOHE is to examine the impact of state and federal education policies on persons of color in Pennsylvania and to advocate for the postsecondary access and success for minority students, faculty and staff. This year’s theme, “Valuing Diversity to Cultivate & Sustain Student Success,” explores strategies of success that promote sustainability. PBCOHE is seeking to learn from faculty, staff and graduate students whose work reveal best practices in student success. In line with the PBCOHE mission and the desire of K. Leroy Irvis to ensure that minorities continue to have opportunities and access to higher education, we invite scholars, educators, and policy makers to submit proposals that examine these issues within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and throughout the nation at large. Anyone who has a proposal accepted to the annual conference is invited to then submit a paper to the PBCOHE Journal for publication in its next journal.
