Emeritus status is an honorary title awarded for distinguished service to the Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education, Inc. An Emeritus Membership is a special award honoring meritorious service to PBCOHE. The President (or his/her designee(s) shall bestow the title of Emeritus upon a retired member of PBCOHE who is retired from PBCOHE and who has served the Conference with distinction. It is expected that emeritus status will be granted to members who have made sustained contributions throughout their career, have a distinguished professional record, and have a desire and expectation to continue their association with the Conference in retirement. Normally, the nomination for emeritus status occurs within two years of retirement. However, exceptions may be granted in special situations.
Eligibility
Members are eligible for emeritus status, if they were:
• a member in good standing of PBCOHE;
• highly visible in PBCOHE for a period of ten years or more;
• supported PBCOHE programs and activities;
• retired from full-time professional responsibilities.
Deadlines (The review cycle for emeritus status takes place only once each fiscal year)
Before December 1:
Any member of PBCOHE may submit a written request to award emeritus status to a qualified individual to the President or (his/her designee(s). The President or (his/her designee(s) may establish a deadline for submission of nominations such that all may be considered and reviewed by December 1, of each year.
All recommendations should be submitted to the President and placed on
the January EC meeting agenda for review and approval.
At the January Executive Council Conference meeting:
Names are submitted to the Executive Council for consideration.

The recipient of this honor shall receive lifetime, voting membership in PBCOHE, a certificate of such membership, reduced rate for registration at the Annual Conference and a letter of commendation from the President of PBCOHE.
